Writing Samples
This portfolio showcases a few of the works I generated in my advanced writing in the technical professions course. These works address a consistent topic, lunar resource use, from a myriad of different styles and directed towards different audiences. Through these works, I hope to not only demonstrate my writing ability but also show my passion for space exploration and emerging technologies.
Initial inquiry on Lunar Resource Use
The document sought to raise awareness of the importance of lunar resource use for furthering space exploration to a group of my peers. I also highlighted the current lack of regulation and issues this might cause moving forward. Through this document, I strove to demonstrate my ability to expand upon a topic through research, creating an easier to interpret report and opening avenues for further investigation.
Researched Document on Extraterrestrial Resource Regulation
This document seeks to offer possible solutions to the UN Office of Outer Space Affairs to the challenges faced in creating effective resource regulation. I created this document using academic research and government documents, adapting solutions that have shown to be effective in the past to the challenges of the future.
Public Document introducing lunar exploration concepts through narrative
This assignment was by far the most fun document to write in the course. I wanted to introduce people to new concepts in lunar exploration in an unexpected way. The medium I chose was a series of QR codes hidden around Northeastern's Campus. My choice of medium dictated that my writing be imminently engaging. I achieved this through a fast-moving narrative and novel use of text formatting to grab and retain the reader's attention. Through this, I hope to have made otherwise dry topics of in situ resource use and the anti-trust implications of no extraterrestrial resource regulations engaging and possibly even interesting to the average reader.
